The real question is, how do you decide on where to elope? With dozens of mountain towns overlooking the continental divide, and each one having a very unique feel, it can be overwhelming to say the least.

Here’s a list of Eight Rocky Mountain Elopement Locations in Colorado to help you decide!

  1. eight rocky mountain elopement locations bannerRocky Mountain National Park – The most popular spots to elope in Rocky Mountain National Park are Bear Lake and Sprague Lake. I personally recommend Sprague Lake as there are less people, sweeping mountain views and a reasonable chance a moose will join you for your nuptuals. You can also just take a drive on Trail Ridge Road (June-Sept) and pick a beautiful spot at any of the overlooks or pull offs.
  2. Black Canyon Inn, Estes Park – This gem has on location lodging, beautiful views and great customer service. It’s also just a short drive from Rocky Mountain National Park. Click here for more info.
  3. Sapphire Point, Breckenridge – Overlooking beautiful Dillon Lake in a natural setting, this majestic overlook is perfect for elopements and small weddings of people under 20. It’s just a short walk from the parking lot and has breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains. Click here for more info on Sapphire Point.
  4. Hanging Lake, Glenwood Springs – This elopement location is perfect for adventurous couples. While it’s one of the most photogenic spots in Colorado, it’s also a 1.5 mile hike each way with roughly 1,000 feet of elevation gain. Note:No dogs allowed.
  5. Piney River Ranch, Vail – This mountain venue offers exclusive elopement packages during off peak times for couples looking to elope in an intimate alpine setting. Note: They are only open from June through September . Click here for more info on Piney River Ranch.
  6. Maroon Bells, Aspen – Maroon Bells has been rated as THE most photogenic spot in Colorado and it’s easy to see why. With it’s beautiful mountain views, reflected in the snow melt lake below, it’s definitely one of a kind. There’s nothing quite like a sunrise at Maroon Bells.
  7. Snow Mountain Ranch, Granby – This beautiful venue is tucked away just outside of the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. It offers a variety of ceremony sites that are available throughout the year. I highly recommend Snow Mountain Ranch for an autumn or winter elopement.
  8. St. Mary’s Glacier, Idaho Springs – St. Mary’s Glacier is a permanent snow field and alpine lake located a little over an hour outside of Denver. A short 1/2 mile hike takes you up to mountain views, alpine flowers and fresh air. You can also sled ride up here in the summer, which would make for some pretty awesome elopement photos.
